The Werner Stamm Foundation wants to contribute to the preservation of the endangered equids by breeding them, with the goal of placing the resulting offspring in other like-minded institutions.
Eventually, once the population in the zoo has reached an adequate size and sufficient stability, the foundation aims at reintroducing these animals into the wild. The station breeds acutely endangered species that can adapt to the Swiss climate and feel comfortable here.
The top priorities of the foundation are breeding and the placement of animals, with the recognition that the study of various species - and also passing on this knowledge - is of great importance. The people responsible are interested in making contacts and exchanging ideas with other like-minded institutions; students and scientists are welcome and encouraged to do research on the station.
